line, and one to introduce air into the sealed line.

Low pressure air shall then be introduced into the sealed line until
the internal air pressure reaches 4.0 psig greater than the average
back pressure (the design groundwater pressure) on the pipe. At
least two minutes shall elapse to allow the pressure to stabilize.

TESTING
A.

The contractor shall utilize a manufactured hardened steel host
pipe expansion head sized so that the expansion head forces and
internal host deflections away from passing HDPE renewal pipe, to
facilitate installation in a partially deflected host pipe.

Segmental Static Sliplining

During installation the Contractor shall pull the renewal pipe into
place utilizing a constant tension, variable speed pulling frame.

force that can be exerted on the pipe without damaging the
integrity of the pipe or pipe joints. The installation head or
mechanism shall incorporate a gauging system, which will provide
a continuous monitor of the force being applied during the liner
insertion operations. The insertion force used by the Contractor
shall in no case exceed the maximum allowable pushing or pulling
force as calculated in the liner pipe design. Pipe spigots shall be
provided with “homing” marks to ensure that the joint is properly
completed.

install the renewal pipe to result in an acceptable grade without the
sag. The Contractor shall take in necessary measures to eliminate
these sags, as approved by the Owner by pipe renewal; digging a
sag elimination pit and bringing the bottom of the pipe trench to a
uniform grade in line with the existing pipe invert or by other
measures that shall be acceptable to the Owner.

Prior to construction and delivery of materials, the Contractor shall obtain
the necessary permits and details or traffic flag persons, as appropriate.

It is the intent of this contract that traffic be maintained at all times
in the areas of construction. The Contractor may be required to
halt operations and/or transport material to areas beyond immediate
work locations in order to allow minimum traffic disruptions.
Access to the site by emergency vehicles, school buses, and
residents shall be maintained at all times.
