TESTING
A.
The contractor shall utilize a manufactured hardened steel host
pipe expansion head sized so that the expansion head forces and
internal host deflections away from passing HDPE renewal pipe, to
facilitate installation in a partially deflected host pipe.
Segmental Static Sliplining
During installation the Contractor shall pull the renewal pipe into
place utilizing a constant tension, variable speed pulling frame.
The frame shall:
a. Accommodate setup in existing manhole structures with no
structure modifications, unless approved by Engineer in
writing.
b. Be capable of applying 40 tons of constant line tension.
The contractor shall utilize a manufactured hardened steel host
pipe expansion head sized so that the expansion head forces and
internal host deflections away from passing HDPE renewal pipe, to
facilitate installation in a partially deflected host pipe.
The contractor shall utilize a manufactured steel resistance plate
behind the renewal pipe to distribute pulling forces along the
length of the renewal pipe string.
The contractor shall pull pipe segments individually into the host
pipe behind the expansion head and associated tooling, assembling
threaded and fused pipe segments within the access manhole as
each individual segment is pulled into the host pipe.
Testing shall be required after the s pneumatically assisted slipline pipe
has been installed. The pneumatically assisted slipline pipe shall be tested
before it has been sealed in-place at the manholes, and before any service
reconnections have been made. The purpose of this test is to check the
integrity of the joints that have been made and to verify that the slipline
pipe has not been damaged by inserting it through the host pipe.

Low Pressure Air Test Procedure - After a manhole-to-manhole
section of the pipe has been replaced, and prior to any service lines
being connected to the slipline pipe, the pipe shall be plugged at
each manhole with pneumatic plugs.
The design of the plugs shall be such that they will hold against the
test pressure without requiring external blocking or bracing. One
of the plugs shall have three air hose connections; one to inflate the
