Area until a transport vehicle arrives, but such storage areas must be acceptable to

ASBESTOS WASTE DISPOSAL PROCEDURES

This Subsection specifies requirements for the removal, handling, and disposal of all
asbestos-containing materials from the site except for non-friable asbestos-containing
transite pipe that shall be disposed of in accordance with Subsection 3.06. All costs
associated with complying with this Subsection and any other applicable Federal, State,
or local regulations regarding packaging and disposal of ACM shall be included in
payment items in this Subsection.

8. Cut the insulation sharply for neat sealing of exposed insulation. Leave 4-inch
minimum margin at the bag seal point for safety.

9. After removal of all asbestos, wash down all surfaces to below the levels where
the bag will be sealed, and saturate the waste. Ensure the absence of residue in
folds, on the back side of pipe, ete.

10. Glove bags shall be used for only one operation and then be disposed of. Glove
bag shall not be slid down the pipe and/or reused.

The Contractor shall provide and utilize all equipment necessary to perform glove bag
work.

Maximum temperature of components (pipe, ducts, stacks, etc.) allowable for glove bag
Work shall be as specified by glove bag manufacturer.

If pipe insulation is in damaged condition, then this material must be repaired prior to
removal.

b. Asbestos-Containing Electrical Cable Wrap:

Wet and cut cable using mechanical cutting tool, such as bolt cutters.
Encapsulate cut ends, place cut sections into Disposal Bags, and place
packaged waste into an acceptable waste transportation vehicle.

Should the Contractor remove any Non-Friable Asbestos-Containing Material in a
manner which makes the material friable, the Contractor shall be responsible for
handling and disposing of this material as friable Asbestos-Containing Waste at
no additional cost.

the section to fill the area of the removed insulation and seal the insulation within
the section. Allow the mortar to adequately dry.

As each section of material is cut free and properly prepared, remove the sections
from the trench.

Prepared component sections will immediately be placed into an acceptable waste
transport vehicle. No stockpiling of removed components will be allowed outside
of a locked, secure waste transport vehicle.

D. For the removal of Non-Friable Asbestos Materials, the Contractor shall:

work without containment structures. The Contractor shall not begin any Work until he
has verified that the excavation (trench) has been adequately shored and that all
pertinent life safety systems are in place. It is the Contractor's responsibility to select the
means and methods to ensure that the release of asbestos fibers into the environment
does not occur and that the procedures are in compliance with governing regulations.

9. Where space allows, provide a separate Decontamination Facility consisting of a
serial arrangement of rooms, holding area, and Wash Room for removal of
equipment and material from the Work Area. Do not allow personnel to enter or
exit Work Area through the Equipment/Waste Decontamination Facility.
