b. Asbestos-Containing Electrical Cable Wrap:
Wet and cut cable using mechanical cutting tool, such as bolt cutters.
Encapsulate cut ends, place cut sections into Disposal Bags, and place
packaged waste into an acceptable waste transportation vehicle.
Should the Contractor remove any Non-Friable Asbestos-Containing Material in a
manner which makes the material friable, the Contractor shall be responsible for
handling and disposing of this material as friable Asbestos-Containing Waste at
no additional cost.
Clean-Up and Work Area Decontamination:
1.
Prior to removing protective poly sheeting, carefully HEPA-vacuum or wet wipe
all poly surfaces.
Place poly sheeting into double Disposal Bags and remove from the work area.
Thoroughly wet and place into Disposal Bags any earth contaminated with
asbestos debris.
Water contaminated with asbestos shall be filtered through a 5 micron filtering
system. Filtered water may be routed as surface water. Used filter cartridges
shall be disposed of as asbestos waste.
Worker Decontamination:
All personnel exiting a work area will perform personal decontamination as follows:

Workers will enter Decontamination Facility/unit and HEPA-vacuum outer
disposal suit and respirator. Water should be available for wet washing hands,
face, etc.
Workers will remove outer disposable suit while in Decontamination Facility/unit
and place directly into a Disposal Bag. Respirators shall be worn at this stage of
decontamination.

PROCEDURES
This Subsection pertains to the removal of asbestos-containing pipe and pipe fitting
insulation using the ventilated glove bag technique.
