Subject: Concrete Barriers on Main Street

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is
unknown.

My purpose in writing is to express my disagreement with the continued use of concrete barriers in The City of
Nashua’s downtown area, specifically, Main Street. They unreasonably restrict parking, forcing people to use
parking garages or forgo going into town altogether. When I look at Main Street, it looks like a continuous
construction zone, and is the least welcoming downtown in Southern New Hampshire. Personally, my wife and
I avoid downtown because of the lack of on-street parking. How the merchants in the downtown area live with
this situation is beyond me.

If the BOA is considering leaving the barriers for any length of time, I think it is a mistake. We no longer have
coronavirus lingering around every corner and it makes sense to allow citizens of Nashua to be free of
reminders of the past two years of restrictions of our freedoms.

Respectfully,

Eric T. Bergeson

| have lived in Nashua my whole life, I'm 51, been a homeowner for the past 27, and | have never seen such a bad idea
as toe barriers on Main Street. It states that it reduced traffic congestion on Main Street, well that is because we ail
avoided Main Street because of the barriers. Please vote Not to return them!!!

| would like to voice my opposition to continuing ANY concrete barriers on Main St in downtown Nashua. | feel they are
very unattractive to our beautiful downtown and interfere with traffic and parking. When they are in place | go out of
my way to avoid going downtown or to do any business there. Please vote no to ALL barriers!

| have strong reservations against the barriers downtown. I like to frequent the restaurants on Main St but once the
barriers go up, the parking is so restricted that anyone with physical limitations, such as myself, are now excluded from
enjoying the downtown area due to lack of access. | do not qualify for handicap parking, but from what | could recall last
year, even that was less than adequate. | also don’t understand why all businesses that aren't restaurants had to have
barriers. We have dined on Main St for years outdoors without the barriers. We can go back to NORMAL! Towards mid
summer last year there were many empty dining areas. | don’t feel it necessary to occupy that much space for outdoor

dining.

| strongly believe they need to go!

They helped when Nashua businesses were stifled by mandates and limitations to capacity. That
time has passed. Let emergency vehicles move without risk of traffic congestion. Let motorists use
the streets the way they were intended.

Thank you for your consideration,

Subject: Do not bring the barriers back!

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is

Dear Board members,

I am not in favor of bringing back the downtown barriers. I believe the barriers provided an
important function in supporting our restaurants during the COVID pandemic however the
pandemic is over. It is time to leave main street open and allow all of our businesses to have
storefront parking. This will allow all residents to go downtown and visit any store of their
choice.

The City of Nashua also does not need all that “getto” art taking away the beauty of our city.

There are solutions to expanding restaurant seating that would not involve the seasonal or
permanent placement of barriers that should be explored by City leadership.

Thank you for your attention to this important City Matter.

Please place this email/letter in the Next Board of Aldermen Meeting Packet.
Very truly yours,

Laura Colquhoun

Subject: Downtown Nashua’a jersey Barriers

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is

Dear Ladies & Gentlemen

| write this letter as a lifelong Nashua resident and business owner. | am a practicing CPA as
well as an active member of the Masonic Fraternity, which has been part of Nashua
community since 1822, when we were still the Township of Dunstable. | am opposed to the
expanded sidewalk tables and barriers on Main St during the summer. As a CPA] can
appreciate how difficult it is to succeed in the restaurant industry. It is a struggle at the best of
times, let alone when trying to keep the doors open during the COVID pandemic, with all of
the unique challenges that brings.

That being said, the traffic and parking situation downtown is problematic at best. | try to
support the downtown merchants, and | spend much of my free time at the Masonic Temple
at 198 Main St. The Masons also operate a children’s dyslexia tutoring center (a program
offered free of charge) at 200 Main St, which | am also involved with. The reduction of parking
and travel lanes on Main St turn any trip downtown into an exercise in frustration. There isa
lack of adequate parking at the best of times, and when on street parking is eliminated on top
of that, who wants to go downtown? Many of us still have to. With my health issues, which
includes severe rheumatoid arthritis, | do not appreciate the search for parking and the % mile
walk every time | go to the Masonic Temple, or the Dyslexia Tutoring Center, let alone to any
of the other downtown merchants and clients that | frequent. It also makes it difficult for the
students who are enrolled at the dyslexia center, and their parents who often accompany
them to class.

We all want an active and vibrant downtown, and we want our local businesses to succeed,
but restaurants aren't the only businesses downtown. The rest of us deserve a chance too.

Sincerely

Stephen K. Bahsler
