Subject: Vote NO On Expanded Downtown Dining

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is

Hello BOA,

| am writing to request that you vote NO on approving barriers on Main St. for expanded outdoor
dining. These barriers favor a few restaurants at the expense of other businesses downtown. They
cause parking issues for older people, people with trouble walking distances, and the handicapped.
These barriers were originally installed to provide additional dining for restaurants during Covid, and
that made sense back then. However, that need has passed and the restaurants should be able to go
back to the dining arrangements (space) they had for many years previously. On a recent telecast of
a BOA meeting | heard the utilization rate for the expanded dining was only 6%. 6 percent? How does
that justify the inconvenience the barriers cause to the rest of the downtown businesses and those of
us who travel along Main St.? | also heard the cost associated with this was over $100,000, and the
city now wants to purchase new barriers and not charge the restaurants for them. Seriously, again,
how is this justified? At least 90% of the citizens speaking at that BOA meeting expressed they did
not want the expanded dining continued.

Please listen to us citizens of Nashua and vote NO on continued expanded dining. I'm sure the
people who have expressed their displeasure with this continuing so far represent a majority of city
residents, especially if all residents were informed of the cost and the extremely low usage of the
dining. If you want to continue this then at least respect us citizens enough to put it up for a city-wide
vote.

Thank You,
Mike Smith

Dear Board of Alderman,

We do want barriers downtown at all. We have NOT gone to a restaurant or any business when the barriers
have been up. It is too difficult to maneuver as well as to find parking. Downtown used to look beautiful and
inviting. It does not look that way when the barriers are up.

Please vote NO on the cement barriers.

Thank you,

NO to the barriers.

These restaurants received thousands of dollars in covid funds and are still suggesting they can't make ends meet
without taking up 1/2 of Main St? If these restaurants are not able to survive without street sitting, then perhaps they
are in the wrong business.Pat

Good Afternoon Nashua BOA,

I remember a time not long ago down town had tables out for patrons on the sidewalks, it
was great fun. I love the ambiance this gives to our City, however the jersey barriers makes
it look like "Escape from New York" with Snake Pliskin (Old Movie Reference). I love
seeing people gathering eating good food and socializing, but we must maintain some
normalcy here.

Having barriers blocking traffic, emergency response vehicles, citizens driving to the
Hospital, or even just us down towners trying to get home form a long day at work, is not
going to make us want to go back down.

I say we let restaurants put tables out, and leave the barriers for the construction yard, I see
no reason why Nashua Citizens should pay for barriers so local business can profit? Will we
citizens get a residency discount? No!

J say let capitalism prevail, let freedom sing, and allow people to enjoy our downtown
business like any other day. There will always be danger placing seating on the sidewalks,
we have a great Nashua PD patrolling, and keep the tables adjacent to the buildings away for
the sidewalk edge and we are good. If businesses want barriers let them pay for them!

Remember we are "Live Free or Die State"!
