FISCAL NOTE: Reduces amount available in general contingency by $8,400
that could be used for escrow or surplus in FY22. The current
balance in the general contingency account pending passage of
R-22-046 in the amount of $4,500 is $125,700.

ANALYSIS

This resolution authorizes the transfer of $8,400 from General Contingency into Edgewood &
Suburban Cemeteries Salaries & Wages for the purpose of funding FY2022 additional seasonal
wage expenses. The Cemetery Trustees have reimbursed the City for the additional wages which
were deposited to the General Fund as FY2022 revenue.

Charter Sec. 53 permits the Board of Aldermen to transfer any unencumbered appropriation
balance or any portion from one department, fund or agency to another. NRO 5-130, H provides
that “when proposed legislation to transfer or re-appropriate a particular appropriation or purpose
thereof has had its first reading, such funds shall not be expended or transferred while the
legislation is pending”.

DISCRETIONARY GRANT PROGRAM”

CITY OF NASHUA

In the Year Two Thousand and Twenty-Two

RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Nashua that the City of Nashua and
the Nashua Police Department are authorized to accept $95,000 from the United States
Department of Justice into Police Grant Activity “2022 Byrne Discretionary Grant Program” for
the purpose of acquiring the services of a third party vendor to provide the Nashua Police
Department 24/7 interpretation and translation services for community members. This funding
shall be in effect from March 15, 2022 through September 3, 2025. No local match is required.

The Mayor is authorized to enter into any grant agreement or other documents necessary
to further the purposes hereof.

by or be liable for any statement, representation, promise, inducement, or understanding of
any kind or nature not set forth in this contract. No changes, amendments, or modifications
of any terms or conditions of the contract shall be valid unless reduced to writing and signed

by both parties.

CHOICE OF LAW AND VENUE This contract shall be governed exclusively by the laws of
the State of New Hampshire and any claim or action brought relating to this contract, the
work performed or contracted to be performed thereunder, or referable in anyway thereto
shall be brought in Hillsborough County (New Hampshire) Superior Court Southern
Judicial District or in the New Hampshire 9th Circuit Court—Nashua and notelsewhere.

PURPOSE: Changing the name of Old Harris Road to Solar Lane

FISCAL NOTE: None.
ANALYSIS

This resolution changes the name of Old Harris Road to Solar Lane.

Pursuant to NH RSA 231:133, the city’s governing body (board of aldermen) may change the
name of any street at any time when in its judgment there is occasion for so doing. No street
name shall be selected which is already in use, or which is confusingly similar to any such
existing name, or which otherwise might delay the locating of any address in an emergency.
Such name shall be placed in at least two (2) conspicuous places on said street. Whenever a
name change is made, the city clerk shall make a record of the name change and shall forward a
copy of such record to the commissioner of transportation.

NRO Chapter 280 “STREET AND BUILDING IDENTIFICATION” provides that the overall
responsibility for the enforcement of that article shall be that of the fire department. The fire
department has no objections to this legislation.
