NASHUA POLICE
DEPARTM ENT Date: 16 May 2017

Intradepartmental Communication

To: CFO Dan Kooken
From: Karen A. Smith, Business Manager

Subject: Nashua Police Department Tire Changer

The Nashua Police Department (NPD) is requesting to purchase a Hunter model TCS 57 Tire Changer,
Leverless Table-Top, PowerOut Bead Breaker, Automatic Swing Arm, Bead Press System, 6-30"
Clamping (220v, 15a L6-20R plug.) for $11,200 the iower of three quotes. This will replace the current,
approximately 24 years old, Coats Tire changer system which we are experiencing problems with
mounting and unmounting tires due to the new design of tires and rims that manufacturers are using.

Four models were researched to include Coats, Corghi, Snap-On and Hunter. The Hunter Model TCX-57
was selected as the best choice to meet the needs of the NPD. This unit will enable us to also service our
heavy duty vehicles and eliminate the need to contract with an outside vendor also eliminating additional
down time and expense. Three vendors were solicited and the pricing is tabulated below:

| Lappen's Garage, Stoughton, MA | Model TCX57 Tire Changer $11,200 - |
|S Sullivan Tire Co., Lee, NH Model TCX57 Tire Changer $11,552
| Mohawk Rubber Sales of NE, | Model TCX57 Tire Changer [$11,685 a
| Ine Inc., Accord MA |

The Hunter model TCS57 Tire Changer purchase is recommended by the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
Brian Sojka from Lappen‘s Garage. This purchase will improve the efficiency of all tire servicing in the
Fleet Maintenance Department to include less manual intervention.

Sincerely,

JO «

Assistant Chief Brian D. Rhodes
Re: Computer Floor, Fire Communications, 38 Lake St

Chief Rhodes,

In 1999 Fire Alarm Communications began operating out of the second floor of 38 Lake Street, the
former Lake Street Fire Station. The communications was outfitted with a raised computer floor with
individual tile squares allowing cabling and wiring to be accessed at any location in the room. The
flooring is carpeted. The flooring in this room has been regularly cleaned and vacuumed but is showing
wear, deterioration and staining typical for flooring nearing 20 years of use. This room is used twenty
four hours a day and would categorize as low to medium foot traffic.

| reached out to installer/suppliers of raised computer flooring to see about replacing the carpet on the
flooring. In discussion with these vendors the carpeting is factory applied to these tiles and the only
replacement is a complete tile with factory applied carpeting.

Vendors have visited and measured the site and given estimates for replacing the tiles. The current
under floor support system and wail trim do not need to be replaced. In the pricing the vendors were
also asked to provide pricing for “cut-outs” these are the opening to allow the cables underneath to
come up through the tiles. These are factory finished and capped to protect the opening and wires
passing through.

Three quotes have been received and are as follows:

Longden Company $14,275.00 quote includes 6 cut out panels
CRF Inc. Interior Systems $14,525.00 cut out tiles additional
Henderson Johnson $14,985.00 cut out tiles additional

All three companies are quoting on the same product, Tate wood core 5000 Panel 24” with factory
applied carpeting.

As you can see the lowest pricing including cut outs is Longden Campany and in discussions with the
representative he will removed and dispose of the old flooring. | would recommend the awarding of this
project to Longden Company of Hudson MA.

Respectfully Submitted,
