RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING AL AND MARION SAVAGE
CITY OF NASHUA
In the Year Two Thousand and Nineteen
WHEREAS, Al and Marion Savage, in their 66 years of marriage, devoted themselves ta
serving the Nashua community, its youth and underprivileged children and families.
WHEREAS, Al and Marion spent countless hours preparing and delivering food baskets
for families in need, as well as preparing meals for youth in the City for over 65 years. They
organized and ran the Elks Trojan Drum and Bugle Corps for 15 years and participated in
various Cal Ripkin and Bambino Little League projects for over 25 years. They served their
community through volunteering and youth programming all while raising three wonderful
children, Carl, Kathleen and Kenneth.
WHEREAS, Aj Savage, through the many positions he held with the Nashua Elks Club
720, served the Nashua community by founding and/or supporting many youth programs within
the City, including, but not limited to, Boys Biddy Basketball League, State Decathlon and
Heptathlon, Elk-sponsored Little League Baseball, Elks Cub Scout Pack 720, Boy Scout Troop
720, Elks Trojans Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, Elks Pop Wamer Football and Elks Youth
Soccer Kick Program. Al served as the Elks Nashua Lodge 720 Ambassador to the United States,
as well as Past Exalted Ruler, Past State President, Past District Deputy and as an Honorary Life
Member. He served as the Hoop Shoot Chairman as well as Youth Chairman Emeritus. In 1974,
Al received the Nashua Exchange Club’s Golden Deans Award.
WHEREAS, Marion Savage, volunteered over 3,500 hours visiting and entertaining the
veterans at the Manchester VA and Tilton Veterans Home. She supported the Spartans Bingo
Club by preparing food and selling tickets for 17 years. She served as President of the Nashua
Emblems Club #170 and was active in Emblem Club programs for 60 years. She dedicated over
2,500 hours each year to fundraising dinners, charity programs and Elk socials in support of the
community’s youth. Throughout the years, Marion was the recipient of many awards that
recognized her accomplishments and contributions, including the Nashua Exchange Club’s
“Citizen of the Year” and Golden Deans Award in 1983; Nashua Elk’s “Distinguished Citizen of
the Year” award in 2002; a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Veterans Affairs
in 2010; and the “Female Volunteer of the Year” award, presented at the annual NH State Elks
Convention in 2017.
RESOLUTION R-19-196
WHEREAS, in 1981, Al and Marion were named “‘Co-Citizens of the Year” by the
Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce. This was a rare accomplishment in that the award is
typically only given to one individual.
WHEREAS, Al and Marion were recognized for their 63 years of support at the Nashua
Elks 63% Annual Decathlon and 43™ Annual Heptathlon Dinner in 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of
Nashua that the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen of the City of Nashua recognize Al and
Marion Savage for their decades of service and contributions to the children and families of the
City of Nashua.

succeeding fiscal year(s) in which no funds have been appropriated nor otherwise designated for this
purpose shall be approved by the full Board of Aldermen before the contract shall become binding on the

Bid |FBO410-112219 independence Day Fireworks Display was opened on.11/22/19. Atlas Pyrovision
Entertainment was the only Bid received from the five companies we sent the Bid to. They have provided
this entertainment in the past and.have always done a great job,
This contract with Atlas PyroVision Entertainment of Jaffrey, NH is a three (3) year contract with an option
for year four (4). 2020 i is $17, 450, 2021 is $17, 500, 2022 i is $18, 000 and 2023 is $17,500. Since this is under
the $25,000 threshold annually, it was not necessary t obtain approval of the Finance Committee. | am
requesting the approval of the full Board of Aldermen for the award ofthe following contract:

RE: IFB0410-112219 Independence Day Fireworks Display
Dear Purchasing Agent:
Thank you for including Atlas PyroVision Entertainment Group, Inc. in your invitation to bid.
Atlas has produced Nashua’s 4" of July fireworks display for the last 4 years and we would
love to continue working with the City of Nashua and entertaining your community.
Atlas has been producing fireworks displays throughout New England for 70 years,
performing nearly 700 displays annually over the last 5 years. The technician assigned to
your display would be Chris Bergeron, NH license # 20 is attached. Chris has been in the
fireworks industry for over 30 years and has fired the Nashua display for the last 3 years. The
display will be electrically fired, which allows the technician to contro! the timing of each
shell, providing a more cohesive look to the display. The opening and main body of the display
wil] last approximately 20-22 minutes, followed by the grand finale which will last 3-5
minutes. The licensed technician will be in contact with the Parks and Recreation Department
to determine the exact timing for the display.
Enclosed please find the shell listing with quantities and descriptions, alang with the Bid
Summary Sheet and References. As with all Atlas displays, we will provide for all permitting,
insurance, transportation, licensed technician with crew, set up, firing and breakdown of the
display, Additionally, the licensed technician will return the following morning to complete a
thorough first light search of the display area.
