Re: Design of Performing Arts Center

Request
Iam writing to request that PEDC recommend and approve the Performance Arts Center design.

Background

Enclosed is an updated layout and design of both interior and exterior of the proposed Performance Arts
Center located at 201 Main Street. This design is not finalized, but is far enough along that it
demonstrates the look and feel of the building.

The development of this design took place over a six-ish month period starting in January of 2019 and the
Steering Committee meeting faithfully (almost every other week in excess of 20 times) to bring the
current design to this point. The meetings have been public, collaborative and a good exchange of ideas
by committee members and non-committee members alike. The design before you represents the wishes
and desires of the community and achieves the three goals of the guiding principles of ensuring we make
the decisions through the lens of:

“+ Enhancing the audience experience

“+ Ensuring there is not a compromised artist experience
“+ And something that will make the venue memorable

The Steering Committee recommends this design. There was a vote of the Steering Committee on June

26" and then again a vote of the Steering Committee occurring on July 24" where the Steering Committee
reaffirmed their commitment to the proposed design.
