REMARKS BY THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
Alderman Klee

| just want to let people in Ward 3 know that | will be holding a Town Hall type of meeting at Dental
Connection this Friday at 5:00 and the following Thursday at 7:00.

Alderman Lopez

Yes | just want to thank everybody who helped organize and everybody who came out for the Tree
Streets Block Party last weekend. It was a really good event, we had a lot of good times and | think it
really showcased all the diversity and positive strengths of the community. El Paisano won the Best
Rice on the Block Competition if anybody is wondering. It was generally a really good event.

| also wanted to invite anybody who is able to attend on June 21", it is the Summer Solstice which is
the longest day of the year and that is typically when we hold a vigil for people who are in recovery in
trying to recover one day at a time so that will be from 6:00 to 6:30 in front of Good Shepherd. So
anybody is invited to come and if you want somebody to be remembered that we’ve lost during their
struggle for recovery, you can submit names to Gatehouse Recovery. | will post more on that on my
page so that anybody reading can see that.

Alderman Dowd

Yes in case you hadn't seen it in the paper, last night the Board of Education referred the Middle School
Project to the Joint Special School Building Committee so we will be meeting quite frequently now on
that particular subject. If you want all the facts from it, you can watch it on the Board of Education
televised City site. It is only the first half hour so you don’t have to watch the whole meeting.

Alderwoman Melizzi-Golja

Thank you. First of all | would like to wish a Happy Ramadan to those in our community who are
celebrating.

Then there was something recently that occurred over at New Searles and people thought it was
gunshots and then it was discovered it was fireworks and ‘tis the season. So a reminder that fireworks
are illegal in the City. | know that Alderman Klee and | have had discussions about resident’s concerns
about fireworks going off not just the week before and the week after 4" of July but throughout the
summer. | know in Ward 8 there was a home that actually had damage from fireworks.

So a reminder to individuals that although you may be able to buy them they are illegal to use in the
City and it is my sincere hope that the Police Department will be responding to calls from residents
regarding the fireworks occurring in their neighborhood. Thank you.

Alderwoman Kelly

Thank you Mr. President. | just wanted to thank anyone who had a hand in the moving of the Farmer's
Market to Main Street, | think that is going to be a wonderful cultural shift for our Downtown community
and | hope everyone will come out on Sunday and see that.

Alderman Jette

So | had told you that | was going to be sponsoring a resolution or an ordinance to form a Committee to
study the solid waste and recycling situation. But at the last Board of Public Works meeting, the Board
of Public Works Commissioners voted to form a committee to do just that — to study specifically the
recycling situation and to see how best to deal with that. So | will not be sponsoring that resolution, the
Board of Public Works has already done it and they have asked me to serve on that committee which |
will be doing. Hopefully we will come up with some ideas on how to deal with the recycling situation.

Alderman Harriott-Gathright

On Tuesday, June 19'" we will be celebrating in Nashua Juneteenth so that is a new one for different
community folks here. That is the celebration that ended slavery particularly for African-Americans. So
if you are free, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19" at the Arlington Community Center, please
come out, there will be light refreshments.

President McCarthy

| would like to thank the organizers for the Tree Streets Block Party and particularly Alderman Lopez. |
had the opportunity to attend for a while, it was a very nice event. And | look forward to the new
Farmer’s Market on Main Street, that took a lot of work to get that to happen but | think it will be a great
asset for the City to have it there. It is going to have a lot more vendors and for the public that comes
downtown, the block between Pearl Street and Temple Street will be one-way southbound and there
will be a detour around that block of Main Street. But please come down and check out the Farmer’s
Market. There is plenty of parking at the Elm Street garage, just a block away from the start of the
market.
