Board of Aldermen 1-14-2020 Page 8

Alderman Lopez

| just wanted to say welcome to the Board to the new aldermen.

| also wanted to put a reminder out that this Saturday coming up is a fundraiser at Liquid Therapy — Hot
Winter Night — and | will be performing. | don’t know if anybody would like to see me play guitar. It’s a7
p.m.

Alderwoman Lu

I’d like to extend my condolences to the Marchand and Plante families who recently lost Monique. Monique
grew up in Nashua and went to the Nashua schools. She was a Navy Veteran and she has been a
resident of Hudson.

I’d also like to thank the voters of Ward 6 for the trust and confidence that they’ve placed in me. | want to
thank all of my colleagues and the city staff for the help that I’ve received in the last few weeks. Thank you.

Alderman Jette

So on your desks you'll find a little package that | distributed earlier. | want to explain what that’s all about.
A couple of months ago at our Rotary Club, Tulsi Gabbard spoke and she told a story about how when she
became a Congressman at first she was in the minority. She was a woman of course and also a Democrat
Congress the head of Republican Majority. To try to ease her way and make friends with everybody, she
got her mother to make these Macadamia nut cookies and she distributed them to all her colleagues. |
thought what a great idea so | asked her whether her mother could come up with 15 cookies for me to
distribute. She turned me down but as an alternative, | thought of my father who was born here in Nashua
in 1911. One of 11 children. Always telling me the story about how at Christmas time back then citrus fruit
was an exotic fruit and how in his family everybody in their Christmas stocking would get an orange and
how wonderful that was. | thought since we’re still in the Christmas season, | think the Orthodox Church or
some Orthodox Churches are still celebrating the 12 days of Christmas. | thought that | would distribute
these oranges to my colleagues in the hopes that Tulsi Gabbarda’s ability to charm her colleagues would
work for me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody.

Alderman Schmidt

Happy New Year everybody and happy election. | was interesting and wonderful. | wanted to thank
especially Alderman Caron for the work that she did on the inauguration. | think that you did a great job
under a great amount of stress. | also wanted to thank everyone who came. | thought it was a terrific
turnout which shows that the city really cares about this. It was terrific. Thank you.

Alderman Cleaver

I’d like to thank the voters of Ward 8 for the confidence they’ve placed in me as alderman for their ward. I'd
like to thank the President — thank you very much, and Donna and the whole staff — Mr. Bolton, everybody
who has helped us with the introduction to all of the various duties of the aldermanic chamber. Thank you
very much.

President Wilshire

You're very welcome.

Alderman Harriott-Gathright

| just want to say Happy New Year too and also thank you and welcome to both of you.

January 9, 2020

To: Board of Aldermen
From: Jennifer McCormack, Director
RE: Service agreement with Palmer and Sicard

The library would like to enter into a new service agreement with Palmer and Sicard spanning the years
2020-2022 in the amount of $2,456.00. This service agreement includes regular seasonal maintenance
visits and a competitive rate for any repairs outside of those routine visits. Palmer and Sicard installed
our new boiler plant several years ago and has been providing our preventive maintenance and repairs
since 2016, having a multi-year agreement with Palmer and Sicard insures that the system is regularly

maintained and that we have immediate access to their technicians for urgent repairs.

This maintenance agreement and other repairs are budgeted for in the library’s regular appropriations.
