Attention Alderman of the city of Nashua, My name is Chris Thibodeau I live on blossom street in ward 6. I
would like to express my feelings as it relates to mask mandates or any mandate for that matter. I can appreciate
no one wants anyone to die but strongly believe in freedoms and oppose over reaching government especially
when it is driven by a science that is changing almost on a daily basis.

The effectivity of general mask usage has been a topic of discussion, through many health professionals
including the CDC that has stated that cloth face masks are little more than facial decorations.

The usage of masks in indoor settings like restaurants, bars, gyms is a laughable.
Masks required while in line and being seated in bars and restaurants but ok to remove while sitting at your
dining table which is where people spend the majority of their time.

Usage in gyms, why transitioning between equipment, but ok to remove during to highest exertion portion of
gym attendance.

Some businesses will choose to continue, and that is their choice and should not be left to the decision of the
Alderman to force businesses to comply. Business owners want to run their businesses not act as enforcers of

these mandates.

Thank you for your time

unknown,

My Dear Friends,

Southern NH is in the middle of a crisis. Our hospitals are full of covid patients while many of their workers
have contracted the virus themselves and cannot work. My daughter in Dover has been drafted to work their
covid ward. The ICU is incredibly difficult work, stressful and draining, and her 12 hour shifts are almost more
than a human should be asked to bear.

If you will take the time to consider Ward 1 citizens who have reached out to me, almost all are asking that
Nashua require indoor masking until the hospitals aren’t under this incredible stress.

So, please, we know what it takes - vaccines - distancing - air filtration and clean hands - and when all those
cannot manage the surge - we need masks. Please extend the indoor mask mandate for at least another month

Thank you for the seriously difficult decisions you will all have to make,
Jan

I've read the Alex Berenson /formed medical editor of NY Times/ report on the effectiveness of
masks world wide for the last 100 years. They do no good, except that it makes people feel good
to see others wearing them. The only effective mask against the tiny nanno airborne germs is the
real N-95 mask - which are not currently in use due to their high cost. They are effective only if
they are form fitted to one's face with silicone or some similar adhesive and must be washed every
hour. Personally, I'm tired of non science based politicians making stupid decisions such as mask
mandates. I personally do not wear masks - especially when I'm shopping in our city's stores. I've
been confronted a few times and let them know that I - like many others - are tired of all

thiis political BS. These mandates are not law and cannot be legally enforced. Spend your time
on Tuesday doing something worthwhile for Nashua.

Subject: Support Extension of Mask Mandate

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is
unknown.

To the honorable members of the Nashua Board of Aldermen,

I write to express my support for the extension of the mask mandate as recommended by the health
professionals on the Board of Health. The mask ordinance in late December came at a time when families were
congregating for the holidays, Omicron transmission was climbing, and our healthcare providers were stretched
thin.

Masking while indoors has been shown to be one of many mitigation efforts we can take to slow transmission.
While some may not like the idea of a mandate, the reality is compliance is high. Go into a busy grocery store
and the number of people masking in January is much higher than the weeks before the ordinance took effect.
There will be people who won’t mask, but many more have been because of the mandate. I believe the
extension through the end of the month is appropriate and can be considered again, or allowed to expire if the
transmission rate is on the decline.

Not all actions the board takes are popular, and many are difficult, but some times you have to make those
unpopular choices. Please know that my family appreciates the mask mandate, as well as many of my friends
and neighbors. Thank you for your service to our city.

Subject: Public Input for Board of Alderman Meeting 25Jan2022

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is
unknown.

Dear Members of Nashua's Board,
] am emailing in regard to reaffirming the Nashua Mask ordinance on 25Jan2022. I am also respectfully
requesting public comment be allowed on 25Jan2022.

There are a large number of reasons to oppose the reaffirmation of the Nashua Mask ordinance such as
effectiveness of masks, legal authority to mandate masks, impact to businesses, and more. If I tried to cover
everything it would be an exhaustive email, so I want to highlight a few key points below.

The last argument made at the last Nashua Board Meeting stated that our hospitals are bursting at
the seams with COVID patients.

If we take a look at "Tracking Coronavirus in New Hampshire: Latest Map and Case Count”
(https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/202 1/us/new-hampshire-covid-cases.html) We can sec the following:

¢ November 2nd, 2021 average cases: 397
» December Ist, 2021 average cases: 982
e January Ist, Average cases: 1,326

e January 18th, average cases: 3,493

e January 21st, average cases: 3,128

I would like to understand how face masks had any impact on the average cases reported in the state of NH
since the mask mandate implementation?

We are opening more vaccination centers around the state of NH. When was the last time there were thousands
of people lined up at any vaccination facility? Why are we sending nurses to sit at empty vaccination sites if
staff is limited and our hospitals are struggling? It is not the responsibility of Nashua's citizens to worry about
hospital staffing. Although we support our local hospitals this is not a reason to force compliance to Nashua’s
residents - that is a collectivist mindset.

[tis irresponsible and unethical to assume that cloth masks or face coverings are effective in
preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the last two (2) months, have we seen a decline in
cases? Vaccinated and unvaccinated people are getting COVID and having to go to the hospital.
People who are triple vaccinated are getting COVID. There is no evidence that supports masks
prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection.

YOU SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT AND PROMOTING EARLY TREATMENT. Early treatment with

Monoclonal Antibodies, Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquine, Prednisone, Singulair, Azithromycin, nasal
viricidal therapy, etc have been shown to vastly reduce hospitalizations and improve outcomes for
Covid patients both vaccinated and unvaccinated. This is how you END the pandemic.

Please see below the studies conducted on mask effectiveness and that I would like to use to support my

argument:

e Face Masks (cloth and/or surgical)
o Have no impact on controlling the transmission of COVID-19 virus and are largely ineffective.
o Current evidence implies that face masks are harmful
o The following studies were conducted:https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M20-6817

Effectiveness of Adding a Mask recommendation to Other Public Health Measures to
Prevent SARS CoV-2 Infection in Danish Mask Wearers
RESULTS: The difference observed was not statistically significant

o Another study conducted: https://www.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/202 1-11 /working-paper-

64.pdf

CONCLUSION: We reviewed the mechanistic, observational, and clinical
evidence relevant to the use of cloth face masks in community settings to limit
the spread of respiratory infections, and in particular the novel SARS-CoV-2
coronavirus. In each area, we found existing evidence inadequate to
demonstrate clear benefit (or harm). It is an ethical imperative to refrain from
portraying the evidence is stronger than it actually is. Some models supporting
community face masks suggest large beneficial effects,319,320 but these models
are based on assumptions that face masks reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission by
40-—50%321,322,323—assumptions that are not adequately supported by
existing data. More generally, given the low quality of evidence, the absence of
statistically significant benefit indicated by most randomized controlled trials, and
the possible harm suggested by a few studies, scientists and public health
officials must take care not to apply a double standard to available studies—
emphasizing projections of lives saved when evidence suggests benefit, while
focusing on study limitations rather than outcomes when the evidence suggests
harm or the absence of benefit.

o Dr. Brosseau and Dr. Sietsema University of Illinois at Chicago:
https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/04/commentary-masks-al…-

based-sound-data

We do, however, have data from laboratory studies that indicate cloth masks or
face coverings offer very low filter collection efficiency for the smalier inhalable
particles we believe are largely responsible for transmission, particularly from
pre- or asymptomatic individuals who are not coughing or sneezing.

We know of workplaces in which employees are told they cannot wear
respirators for the hazardous environments they work in, but instead need to
wear a cloth mask or face covering. These are dangerous and inappropriate
applications that greatly exceed the initial purpose of a cloth mask. We are
concerned that many people do not understand the very limited degree of
protection a cloth mask or face covering likely offers as source control for people
located nearby.

we continue to conclude that cloth masks and face coverings are likely to
have limited impact on lowering COVID-19 transmission, because they

Subject: Mask Mandate

CAUTION: This email came from outside of the organization. Do not click links/open attachments if source is

Please do not extend the mask mandate beyond January 31, 2022. It is useless. | have avoided going to stores in
Nashua this month and have purchased goods and services that total around $3,000 in surrounding communities that
Nashua businesses have lost due to this mandate. The few times | have been in Nashua businesses many either do not
have signs up stating there is a mask mandate or they are not enforcing it as many people not wearing masks. It is not
effective, look at the schools where they have been required for close to 2 years now. Extending this thru February is only
hurting Nashua stores and put burdens on our local stores/employees for little to any impact.
