B. Work damaged by blasting shall be repaired or replaced at the Contractor's expense.

B. Ifrock 1s excavated beyond the limits of payment as specified, or authorized in writing
by the Engineer, the excess excavation, whether resulting from over-breakage or other
causes, shall be backfilled, by and at the expense of the Contractor, as specified below:

In pipe trenches, excess excavation shall be filled with the required material and
compacted in the same manner as specified for the material in the zone around
the pipe under Section 02300 EARTHWORK.

In excavations for structures, excess excavation in the rock beneath foundations
shall be filled with concrete which shall have a minimum 28-day compressive
strength of 3000 psi. Other excess excavation shall be filled with Class B backfill
compacted to a minimum of 92 percent density (ASTM D1557 Method C) as
specified under Section 02300, EARTHWORK.

If the rock below normal depth is shattered due to drilling or blasting operations
of the Contractor, and the Engineer considers such shattered rock to be unfit for
foundations, the shattered rock shall be removed and the excavation shall be
backfilled with concrete as required, except that in pipe trenches crushed stone
may be used for backfill, if approved. All such removal and backfilling shall be
done by and at the expense of the Contractor.

D. When directed by the Engineer, the Contractor shall remove all dirt and loose rock from
designated areas and shall clean the surface of the rock thoroughly to determine
whether seams or other defects exist.

E. | When concrete is to be placed on rock, the rock shall be free of all vegetation, dirt,
sand, clay, boulders, scale, excessively cracked rock, loose fragments, water, ice,
snow, and other objectionable substances.

3.03

VIBRATION AND AIR BLAST
MONITORING:

A. The Contractor shall measure air blast and vibration levels of blasting operations to
assure compliance with all applicable regulations and local permits.

B. Records of each day's air blast and vibration measurements shall be submitted to the
Engineer in writing no later than the start of the next day's work. Records shall include,
as a minimum:

= Name of observer
=" Name of interpreter

" Type of ground at recording station

= Peak particle velocity for all components as well as resultant for all
frequencies of vibrations

" Duration of motion with a velocity in excess of one thousandth of an inch
per second. A copy of the photographic record of seismograph readings
Peak air blast level.

3.04 BLASTING RECORDS:

The Contractor shall prepare and submit to the Engineer daily blast reports, including
logs of each blast. Reports shall be submitted to the Engineer no later than the start of
the next day's work. However, during each day of blasting, the Contractor shall review
and shall provide access for the Engineer to review the data from that day's blasting.
Reports after each blast shall include at least the following information for each blast:

Date, time, and location of
blast

Permit number and expiration
date

Amount and type of explosives used by weight and number of
cartridges

Total number of delays used and number of holes used for each
delay

On a diagram of the blast pattern, indicate total number and depth of holes,
maximum charge per delay, maximum charge per hole, and corresponding delay
number

An evaluation of the blast indicating areas of significant over-break, unusual
results, and any recommended adjustments for the next blast.

3.05 POST BLASTING INSPECTIONS:

The Contractor shall examine any properties, structures, and conditions where
complaints of damage have been received or damage claims have been filed. Advance
notice shall be given to all interested parties so that the parties may be present during
the final examination. Records of the final examination shall be signed and distributed
to the owner of the property, the head of the local fire department, and the Engineer.

SECTION 02370

EROSION CONTROL
PART 1 —- GENERAL
1.01 WORK INCLUDED:
A. Provide temporary erosion control for the entire duration of project in accordance with
plans, specifications.
1.02 RELATED WORK:
A. Section 02300: EARTHWORK
B. Section 02745: ROAD RESTORATION
C. Section 02920: LOAMING AND SEEDING
1.03 SITE CONDITION:
A. All soil erosion and sediment control measures to be in accordance with standards and

specifications thereof in "Stormwater Management, and Erosion and Sediment Control
Handbook for Urban and Developing Areas in New Hampshire," April 1997, prepared
by Rockingham County Conservation District for NHDES in cooperation with USDA-
SCS.

B. The work area shall be graded, shaped, and otherwise drained in such a manner as to
minimize soil erosion, siltation of drainage channels, damage to existing vegetation,
and damage to property outside the limits of the work area. Silt fences, hay bales
and/or detention basins will be necessary to accomplish this end.

PART 2-— PRODUCTS

2.01

MATERIALS:

A. Stabilized Construction Entrance:

Stabilized construction entrance shall conform to the plans and requirements of the
“Erosion and Sediment Control Design Handbook for Developing Areas of New
Hampshire.”

B. SILTSACK®:

Sediment control devices at catch basins shall be SILTSACK® as manufactured by
Terrafix Geosynthetics, Inc., or approved equal.

C. Silt Fence:

1. Support fence: 14-gauge, 4-inch x 4-inch mesh, 36-inch-high livestock
fence.

2. Post: Post at 6'0" on center to be No. 4 rebar, 2" x 2" wood, 3/4" steel
pipe or equivalent.

3. Fabric: Previous sheet of synthetic polymer from non-woven continuous
filaments manufactured by Mirafi, Inc., Monsanto Textile Co., or Amoco
Fabrics co., meeting the following minimum requirements.
¢ Water permeability - 500 gal/min./ft.2.
¢ Thickness - 70 mils, when tested in accordance with ASTM D-1777.
¢ Bursting strength - 200 psi when tested in accordance with ASTM-D
¢ Trapezoid Tear strength - 50 lbs. when tested in accordance with ASTM

¢ Ultraviolet Degradation - 1 year with less than 25% loss of bursting
and tear strength.

¢ Equivalent Opening Size (EOS) - 50 min. and 100 max.

D. Silt Socks:

1. Silt socks shall be Siltsoxx by Filtrexx (or approved equal) in accordance with
the plans and details.

PART 3 —- EXECUTION

3.01 SILTSACKs® AND STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE:

A. All SILTSACKs® shall be installed in all catch basins that receive flow from the
disturbed areas of the project in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

B. SILTSACKs® shall not be removed until finish grading, paving and final loam and

seeding have been completed. Maintain SILTSACKs® in good conditions until
removed.

3.02 ROADWAYS AND PAVEMENT AREAS:

A. As soon as possible after utility work has been installed, the roadways shall be brought

to subgrade, and temporary or permanent gravel base and pavement shall be placed.as
per Specifications.

3.03 REMOVAL OF TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL MEASURES:
A. All temporary erosion control measures shall be removed once the site has been

stabilized with final pavement, and disturbed loam and seed areas have established a
viable stand of grass.

SECTION 02451

FLAGGERS AND UNIFORMED OFFICERS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL

PART 1 - GENERAL

WORK INCLUDED:

This Section covers the provisions for furnishing Flaggers and Uniformed Police
Officers for Maintenance of Traffic as described in Section 01110 CONTROL OF

WORK AND MATERIALS, to direct traffic through or around work as shown on
the plans or as ordered by the Engineer.

DESCRIPTION:

The Contractor shall coordinate with the Engineer to determine the number of
Flaggers and Officers deemed necessary to provide for public safety and to maintain
a smooth flow of traffic through the construction area(s) affected.

RELATED WORK:

SECTION 01110, CONTROL OF WORK AND MATERIALS

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01

UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS:

Contractor shall provide the Traffic Control Officer with a minimum of 24 hours
notice indicating the time of day, street location and confirm number of officers
required for traffic control. This shall be as agreed by the Engineer. The Contractor
may furnish additional traffic control personnel at his/her own expenses but only
those agreed upon by the Engineer will be measured for payment.

Contractor shall give the Traffic Control Officer a minimum of 2 hours prior
cancellation notice should Contractor determine that due to weather or conditions
beyond his control he would not need the scheduled officers.

Contractor shall pay for officer(s) at the prevailing rate established by the local
police department should officers not be needed and the Contractor fails to cancel
the officers as noted in 2.01.B above.

Where the Owner is paying directly for Uniformed Officers, the Contractor shall be
responsible for payment of the wages paid to the Uniformed Police Officers if the
Contractor fails to cancel the services of the Uniformed Officers in accordance with
2.01.B and 2.01.C above.

2.02 FLAGGERS

area.

B. Contractor shall relocate barricades, signs and other devices as necessary as the work
progresses as directed by the Owner’s Traffic Control Officer or the Engineer.

C. Flaggers shall be provided with the necessary safety equipment.

TRACER

TAPE

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 WORK INCLUDED:

This section covers the furnishing, handling and installation of tracer tape, as called
for on the drawings.

1.02 RELATED WORK:

A. Section 02085, POLYVINYL CHLORIDE GRAVITY PIPE AND FITTINGS

1.03 SUBMITTALS: IN ACCORDANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS OF GENERAL
SPECIFICATIONS, SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

A. Electronic file of manufacturer's literature on the materials, colors and printing
specified herein, shall be submitted to the Engineer for review.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS:

Tracer tape shall be by Lineguard, Inc.; Empire Level; Pro-Line Safety Products Co.;
or approved equal.

2.02 TRACER TAPE:
A. Tracer tape shall be at least 4-inches wide.
B. Tracer tape for non-ferrous pipe or conduit shall be constructed of a metallic core
bonded to plastic layers. The metallic tracer tape shall be a minimum 5-mil thick and

must be locatable at a depth of 12 inches with ordinary pipe locaters.

C. The tape shall bear the wording: "BURIED SEWER LINE BELOW" with
"SEWER", continuously repeated every 30 inches to identify the pipe.

E. Standard tape colors shall be as follows, as recommended by the American
