Alderman Clemons
Just for the record, they do care about your boat because if you remove the boat from the water and go to
another waterway without cleaning your boat, you are going to spread it to that waterway. That’s a good way
to get milfoil all across the state. So, it is very important to understand that keeping this under control in the
river, which is very popular with boaters and fishermen, is very important to the rest of the state as well. Thank
you.
MOTION CARRIED
From: Dan Kooken, Purchasing Manager
Re: Approval for Sponsorship of GAD Event (Value: $15,000)
MOTION BY ALDERMAN SIEGEL TO ACCEPT, PLACE ON FILE AND APPROVE THE SPONSORING
OF THE SPRING DOWNTOWN MUSICAL FESTIVAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000. SOURCE OF
FUNDING IS DEPARTMENT 183, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS
EXPENDABLE TRUST FUND
ON THE QUESTION
Mayor Donchess
We have to answer any questions concerning this Mr. Cummings and Mr. Vayo from Economic Development
as well as Ben Ruddock from Great American Downtown. The source of funds, if it was not clear, were
escrowed into the downtown improvement reserve fund as part of the escrow process last fall. We escrowed
$170,000. The downtown improvement committee has approved this expenditure. That’s why it is before us.
Are there any questions for the three gentlemen here?
Alderman Wilshire
| didn’t really have questions, but thank you for being here this evening and thank you for your work on this.
This is, | think, a really exciting thing to be doing in Nashua. If it gets people downtown, makes them want to
go down, it’s really great. So thank you, and thanks for the work you put in on this. | will definitely support this.
Director Cummings
Thank you. The event will be on May 6. It is an on-day event. We are expecting about 3,000 people in the
downtown. About 25 acts have been secured so far. It will be over four different stages. We are really
excited about this opportunity. This money has been set aside from the Downtown Improvement Committee,
and we’re looking forward to the sponsorship.
Mayor Donchess
It’s the first of three concerts that Great American Downtown will be running in the downtown over the course
of 2017. We are contributing towards this one, but the other two will be sponsored privately, one in the
summer and one in the fall.
Mr. Ruddock
The July 22™ event which is a local focus event, the intent is to actually offer a record deal to an up and
coming band. They are going to be based on attendance. They are going to bring a lot of folks with them.
We're getting into music production phase 2, which is cool. Then September 30" there is going to be an
American music focused event. This event is more of an experimental vein and more of an implant to New
Hampshire. This September event will be more of a tip of the hat to what’s a little bit more traditional,
Americana, that sort of stuff.
