I am writing to ask you to please bring back expanded outdoor dining this spring.
While the pandemic brought many awful things, it forced us to make changes that were beneficial, as well. One
bright spot was the adoption of expanded outdoor dining. I live within a mile of downtown, but until the
expanded dining, I hardly ever dined downtown. I always drove to a restaurant ona major road away from
downtown instead, But with expanded dining, I was able to walk downtown, sit outside and have a meal, and
take advantage of the unique qualities of Nashua's downtown. I ate out at downtown restaurants more times
during the summer and fall of 2020-2021 than I had in the previous five years.
Please keep the expanded dining that was established during 2020 and 2021 in downtown Nashua. People will
always complain -- about traffic, about parking, about anything, really. However, I believe that it's shortsighted
to undo something that kept people safe, restaurants open, and workers employed simply because it's not
perfect. And it's also shortsighted to think that this fight against the variants of Covid is over.
Sincerely,
Sarah Paratore
