REMOVING THE FINE LIMITATION ON ANIMAL ORDINANCE VIOLATIONS RELATING TO DOGS

Thank you very much. The reason for this was to put fines for all of the animals into basically the same category.
Previously we had a different violations relating to dogs, versus cows, versus chickens, versus and truthfully we were kind
of harder on chickens and cows and so on. So this what it does is it takes away basically the limitation. It allows the
animal control officer at their discretion to do education prior to having to give a mandatory fine. So in other words, there
may be a time when you weren't looking and your dog is a great escape artist and has gotten out the door. Rather than
having to throw a fine at you of some sort - a $25 fine, they're able to educate. But at the same time if you have an owner
that is just allowing the dog off leash, allowing the dog to escape from the yard on a regular basis, it allows them to give a
