Special Board of Aldermen 12-07-2021 Page 19
Chairman Dowd
With that, | will close the public hearing on R-21-202.
Alderwoman Lu
Excuse me, Mr. Chairman.
Alderman O’Brien
With that closed Mr. Chairman before us this evening is R-21-187 Changing the Purpose of up to $440,225 of Unexpected
Bond Proceeds from the LED Streetlight Project to Infrastructure Improvements, Sidewalk Construction for Design, Repair,
and Construction of Sidewalks.
Chairman Dowd
Just so everyone knows, we have to go through these other three public hearings before the Budget Committee will
meet and take action on all four of these actions.
Alderman Clemons
Yeah, thank you. | just wanted to let everyone know that | am here participating via Zoom and | joined the meeting at 7:05.
There's no one in the room with me. Thank you.
Chairman Dowd
Alright.
R-21-187
CHANGING THE PURPOSE OF UP TO $440,225 OF UNEXPENDED BOND PROCEEDS FROM THE LED
STREET LIGHT PROJECT TO INFRASTRUCURE IMPROVEMENTS - SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION FOR THE
DESIGN, REPAIR, AND CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS
Chairman Dowd
So on this particular bond resolution, and | believe we have the City Engineer here to talk to it, this is money that was
allocated for one purpose and we're now reallocating it for another. It is not new bonding. Mr. Hudson?
Dan Hudson, City Engineer
Thank you, Mr. Chair. That is correct. Dan Hudson, City Engineer. This is bond money that was secured for an LED
streetlight conversion project which has been completed. So this was remaining money from that project that was
already used and the request is to reassign that to sidewalk work. As you know, the city has many sidewalks and
many in need of repairs. So this would help us towards those efforts.
Chairman Dowd
Are there any questions from any of the Aldermen on this particular bond?
Alderman Wilshire
| just had a question of Mr. Hudson. Have you already identified where the sidewalks are going to be repaired with
this money?
Dan Hudson, City Engineer
Thank you. No we haven't identified specific locations. One of the first things we're going to do, and actually we're
scoping right now, is do a complete inventory of all the sidewalk in the city. We have some mapping but the separate
will be a detailed review identifying where all our deficiencies are and then confirm all of our sidewalk segments are.
So that'll be the first effort and then we prioritize, based upon condition and based on proximity to schools, public
facilities, bus stops, and that sort of thing to come up with a plan of attack, so to speak, for the repairs.
