Special Board of Aldermen 12-07-2021 Page 10
Chairman Dowd
Anyone else like to speak in favor of this legislation? Seeing no one, I'm going to move on to...
Mike Viggiano
Good evening. My name is Mike Viggiano. | live at 35 Columbia Avenue. First, | want to apologize because | had
written up a very nice dissertation for tonight. My wife said it read like warranties and | couldn't get it down to three
minutes. So | sent you all an e-mail. | hope you read all of it. It's | think it's very thoughtful. | think it's meaningful.
It's not a rant, by any means but it says how | feel about how things over the years and over the past centuries have
come about with National Parks and people who saved land, including here in Nashua in the State.
You know, earlier | heard one of you say and | couldn't tell which one because of all the masks that there really is
nothing that can be done. Well I'm looking at a group of people here my neighbors who have a can do attitude about
everything, right? You can’t tell a group of people in this room that nothing can be done. If there's a will on your part,
there's a way to get it done and I'm sure there is with the help of all these folks. Okay. You know, we have been doing
this for how many weeks now? | look at Gary, and Laurie, and Barbara, and Jean. | hope we're all listening to what's
going on yet because a lot is at stake as everybody's already said. And you know, I'm going to do run a little cliché by
you, you know, we're AmeriCANS, not Americants. So let's get this done. Thank you.
Chairman Dowd
So | just want to be clear. It may have been misunderstood. We’re not saying there's nothing that can’t be done. If
the purchase and sale does go through, any project has to go through the Planning Board. The Planning Board will
take into account all the things that you're mentioning tonight and they can stop or change the project. We as
aldermen can't do that. All we can do is have the money available if there's an opportunity to buy the property, which
is what the legislation is addressing. Okay if there's no one else.
Susan Vail
Can you hear me?
Chairman Dowd
Yes.
Susan Vail
Okay. | don't know what mode I'm in here. | just want to quickly say that | would like the Board of Aldermen to
approve the bond.
Chairman Dowd
We need your address.
Susan Vail
Oh, I'm sorry. Suzanne Vail. I’m also a New Hampshire State Representative and I'm at 28 Norton Street, Nashua. |
am speaking in favor of the legislation because | think that we need time to look at the impact that this kind of a
change would have on this park. This is abutting historical property and it's hard for me to imagine having walked the
park, what the park will look like. | think there will be significant changes. | also think the rest of the community, the
city at large as one of the earlier speakers said, | just don't think that they really know what's going on. So | hope that
we can approve this legislation and get some time to look at the situation. | don't think it's just a simple sale from one
family to another developer when there's this many people. It's a big city that's going to be impacted by the loss of
this land. As Alderman Klee had said, once it's gone there's no getting it back. So let's not mess this up. Thank you
so much for your time.
Chairman Dowd
All right. No one else wants to speak in favor.
