SUBJ: Liaison Appointments to the Nashua City Planning Board
Dear Colleagues:
| apologize for bringing this in under suspension, but | simply wanted to get this completed.
In the original committee assignments, | had appointed Alderman Lopez as the liaison to the Nashua
City Planning Board. This was done because NRO 5-9, B (4) (g) requires the liaison to be a member of
the Planning and Economic Development Committee. It has since turned out that Alderman Lopez, and
other members of PEDC, may have difficulty attending planning board meetings.
Alderman McGuinness has expressed an interest in being the liaison to the planning board. After some
consideration, | would like to oblige that request. The NRO provisions were put in place back when the
master plan was being updated and many changes were being made to the zoning code, in order to
create a channel for communication of the Board of Alderman’s policy intent. The site and subdivision
ordinances have been substantially less volatile in recent terms, and | am not sure that provision needs
to be keenly observed at this point.
| would, therefore, propose changing the appointments to the Nashua City Planning Board to Alderman
McGuinness, primary, and Alderman Lopez, alternate.
Accordingly, | would ask for a motion to waive the provisions of NRO 5-9 B(4)(g), and concur with the
President's appointment of Alderman McGuinness as primary and Alderman Lopez as alternate
members of the Nashua City Planning Board.
