developed a plan to reduce its current Cost and to. reduce the'rate of future increases,
By raising deductibles for drugs and some services, the City’ s plan also saves money for
employees by reducing the deduction in their weekly paycheck by about 20%.
So far, the City’s cost saving plan has been put into effect or agreed to for five groups of City
employees — unaffiliated employees in City Hall and the City Public Health and Community
Services Division; by the Communications workers in the Police Department; by the UAW
representing employees in City Hall, the Fire Department and the Public Works Department; for
the employees of the Library, as well as by AFSCME representing employees in the Public
Works Department.
