Alderman Lopez

So this, | am going to outline a little bit of wnat the Board probably knows but just because the public is still
tuning in, there a number of people who noted that they hadn’t actually heard the other meeting so this
might seem a little bit redundant. But we have a Board of Health with three physicians on it and their role is
to make public health recommendations for the general welfare and health of the Nashua area. They were
the ones that we turned to for everything from whether dogs can eat in restaurants or how we are going to
handle a Lyme Disease outbreak. That’s what they normally handle. This year we have a pandemic,
they’ve been acting really in the way that the City originally intended and we’ve been fortunate enough to
have a Board of Health with two experts in disease control. So we reviewed their recommendations, for
example, for the mask mandate, and for the amendment to it that was subsequent.
