Special Board of Aldermen

Public Hearing — 5/17/2018

are not just taking the easy patients. We are taking patients that
are very complex. We are very fortunate because our clinicians
are tremendously skilled but nevertheless it is a challenge and it is
very expensive.

I think that the important thing to note is that if our organization
was not able to care for these Nashua residents, many of them
would languish in a hospital setting which costs your community
— Nashua, our community much more money. All of the medical
research shows today that the very best place to care for people is
in the home setting where they are comfortable, they feel safe and
secure and that’s where they want to be. And it turns out that is
actually the healthiest place to be.

So I am just here tonight and we sent a letter from our CEO to the
Board of Aldermen with all due respect, we are grateful for every
penny that we could get. But when you cut over $12,000.00 from
our appropriation last year it just truly means that less patients
who have fallen through the insurance cracks will be able to be
cared for by our clinicians.

I just thought I would bring it to the attention of the Board of
Aldermen for them hopefully to perhaps reconsider. But whatever
we get, we are deeply grateful for. Thank you so much. I can
answer questions, I don’t know if folks have them?

Chairman Dowd

Do any of the Alderman have questions? We are going to be
doing our budget wrap up this coming week so we’ ve made no
motion one way or the other with the budget and I did take that
letter and had it sent to all the Aldermen.

Tina Andrade

Thank you very much.
