Special Board of Aldermen Public Hearing Page 28
Mayor Donchess
Correct.
Paula Johnson
Youre telling me it’s $54,000 a year right? Your budget book says $35,311 at .65 hours. Where’s
the rest of the hours?
Mayor Donchess
| think it’s in the Wastewater Treatment for one thing.
Paula Johnson
Okay let me ask you a question here. Wasn't there a whole big tado about splitting positions
between one division and the other?
Mayor Donchess
Because it is the most accurate way to reflect the actual expenses. If someone at the top of Public
Works or who works across all the divisions of Public Works, works sometimes in the Street
Department, works sometimes for Wastewater, works sometime elsewhere, the most accurate thing
is to reflect that approximate division of their time as across the various budget to give you the citizen,
and the aldermen, and everyone else a more accurate picture of what the actual costs are.
Paula Johnson
Okay what is this person going to be doing in Wastewater at the time its being split? If he’s a Public
Relations Administrator that’s supposed to get complaints or whatever, what exactly is he doing in
Wastewater that he can’t be doing all under Public Works Administration and Engineering.
Mayor Donchess
| think there are other parts of it elsewhere in the budget. Public Works of course has a numerous —
has Park Rec., Streets, and everything. Why doesn’t Ms. Fauteux who is going to be directing this
person come up and help explain how the person will be assigned. The person has been selected
but hasn’t started yet.
Director Fauteux
So the Public Relations Administrator will really be the voice of Public Works. Whenever residents
call in and they have any questions or complaints, that person will take those calls. That person will
also be — we’re going to be developing a Facebook page. They'll be looking at that. It’s really both
an outreach an educational position for all of the departments. That’s why part of the salary is
allocated to the general fund and also to the two enterprise funds.
Paula Johnson
So he’s going to be doing how much time at the Wastewater Treatment?
