MOTION CARRIED
MOTION BY ALDERMAN CARON FOR FINAL PASSAGE OF R-16-041 AS AMENDED
ON THE QUESTION
Alderman Siegel
| would call on my colleague Alderman Caron to please explain the changes to the legislation.
Alderman Caron
The reason we have the golden rod copy is because the amount of money that we were looking to take out
of the account for hydrant fees; there were some bills that came in which reduced that balance to about
$14,000. Treasurer Fredette asked that we move it to another contingency fund but it’s out of the 2016
budget and it’s still for the same $25,000. We did this last year and the senior center was able to do
maintenance on the facility that they normally don’t have monies for and this year they want to do some
improvements to the ADA signage, installation of fans for the fitness room and stripping and sealing the
wood floors. The city does own this facility and the money that they raise during fundraisers and
membership really goes towards programming and activities for the center as a whole. | appreciate the
support from the Mayor as well as my colleagues.
Alderman Deane
| think it’s high time that we take a good long look at this building and put a maintenance plan in place so it
doesn’t turn into a school project where we are bonding $10 million or $15 million to do repairs. Maybe the
Mayor next year can think about a yearly appropriation to help keep the building that we own as a city. |
support this because we have to take care of what we own.
