2021 Paving Program — Arterial and Collector Roadways
To approve the award of the construction contract for the 2021 Paving Program — Arterial
and Collector Roadways to Sunshine Paving Corporation of Hudson, NH in the amount of
$4,191,007.50. Funding will be through: Department: 160 Admin/Engineering: Fund:
Bond; Activity: Paving; Department 161 Streets; Fund: Trust; Account Classification: 81
Capital Improvements; Department: 169 Wastewater; Fund: Bond; Activity: Sewer Rehab.
The 2021 Paving Program — Arterial and Collector Roadways contract is expected to pave
approximately 7.5 miles of City streets. Repair methods such as shim, overlays, milling and
reclamation will be used. Other work required includes replacing nonstandard and broken
drainage and sewer castings, repairing/replacing catch basins and manholes (sewer and
drains), ADA ramp work, and reconstructing driveway transitions.
The contract was advertised for bids on January 7, 2021. Four contractors submitted bids
on January 28, 2021 and are listed below:
Sunshine Paving of Hudson, NH $4,191,007.50
Newport Construction Corporation of Nashua, NH $4,227,000.00
Continental Paving, Inc. of Londonderry, NH $4,492,938.00
Brox Industries, Inc. of Dracut, MA $5,120,675.00
Sunshine Paving of Hudson, NH at a bid price of $4,191,007.50 is the qualified low bidder.
Sunshine Paving successfully completed two paving program contracts of similar scale for
the City in 2020.
