To the Members of the Board of Aldermen:

In accordance with Charter Section 23 please find attached the Record of Returns of the Municipal
Election held on November 7, 2017,

The charter requires the City Clerk to “submit his record of the returns of each municipal election
to the board of aldermen...and the board of aldermen shall canvass the returns and declare the
result. Such declaration shall be duly recorded...”

10,730 voters turned out and cast ballots. Voter registration started out with 56,760 voters and 297
new voters registered that day. At the close of polls the voter registration total was 57,057. As
such, voter turnout for this election was 18.81%.

There were 13 races for Ward Election Officials for which no candidate appeared on the ballot. All
of the vacancies were filled, with none of the offices resulting in a tie.

In reference to the referendum questions, question one relative to allowing the operation of keno
games within the City of Nashua passed on a vote of 5,619 to 4,559 and question two relative to
authorizing the Mayor and City Treasurer to issue bonds not to exceed $15,500,000 for the
performing arts center located at 201 Main Street passed on a vote of 5,167 to 5,012.

I would like to express my appreciation to the schools that host our polling places, especially to the
custodians who make sure the schools are ready for when the public works crew arrive to set-up the
polling locations as well as when the elected officials go in to set-up. Also, thanks to the public.
works crew that assist in setting up and tearing down the polls, the parks and recreation crew who
assist in setting up flags and directional signs, to the Nashua Transit Authority who again offered
free rides to the polls and to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for their support of the City Clerk's
Office. A very special thanks to all our elected and appointed election officials, whose dedication
and support of the election process, makes sure our voting process runs smoothly.

Sincerely,

os
