Subject: Nashua Police Department FARO 3D Laser Scanner
The Nashua Police Department is requesting the purchase of the FARO 3D Laser
Scanner FocusS 70 with accessories and extended warranty to be purchased from
FARO Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $56,344.65 under GSA MAS contract GS-
07F-197GA. A copy of the quotation is attached listing the description. Funding is
available in the Justice Assistance Grant CESF FY20.
According to the information provided to me from Department members, the Nashua
Police Department would have multiple purposes for the FARO due to the software's
rapid gathering of data and the authentic, highly detailed graphic reconstruction of
crime scenes, collision scenes, Emergency Management/Event preplanning. This
allows for an in-depth objective understanding of scenes not only to first responders
and dispatchers, but also for presentations to jurors, prosecutors, and event managers.
The portability and speed of operation cf The FARO 3D laser scanning systems allows
for more precision and quicker operation than traditional forensic methods, while being
less intrusive than the previous equipment reducing greater potential far compromised
crime scenes and less personal contact between crime scene investigators.
Additionally, the FARO 3D laser scanner processes the location and documents entire
scenes in an all-inclusive method removing the subjective decision making. the FARO
3D Laser scanner measurement machines have been procured by Manchester Police
Department, Derry Police Department and State Police and the FARO Scanner is
recommended and have proven time saving at scenes.
The Nashua Police Department recommends the purchase from FARO
Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $56,344.65
