What were the changes?

The original legislation has some vague terms that allowed for terms like “etc.” and “exceptions” without
very clear definitions. There was an objection that this would be something that could potentially just be
misused. Changes were made to explicitly solve the problem that we wanted to solve and changed the
wording so that it is very clear that not only that this only apply to the police department but that there
was an override mechanism so that the public would have say if in fact this was deemed something that
we wanted to not have redacted. The wording was changed from the previous to be “payments where
disclosure could endanger or compromise police department personnel. Redactions in this situation may
be overridden by a vote of the Finance Committee.” Very simply it just applies to that particular element,
the police department and only that.
