urban design solutions to support the development of a thoughtful, well designed, multi-
modal node downtown that is heavily used, safe, and attractive.
a. Site Reconnaissance
Document and photograph conditions as part of this effort, the following is
anticipated:
« Document observable electrical utilities and acceptable points of connection
e Document valuable assets, linkages, beneficial qualities, and overarching
opportunities
e Document noteworthy existing trees, vegetation, invasive species, etc.
b. Analysis of Existing Conditions, Opportunities, and Constraints
Collected data will be studied to uncover important issues/characteristics of the project
area and surroundings.
c. Evaluation of Design Alternatives
The focus of this task will be to advance and refine the City’s conceptual rail trail layout in
collaboration with CMA Engineers and explore a design solution for the functional and
visual enhancement of the corridor while promoting user experience in consideration of
elements identified in “a” above. Also, refer to IRONWOOD CLARIFICATIONS AND
ASSUMPTIONS. Should there be alternative design solutions for a specific area, Ironwood
will provide alternative vignette sketches for consideration.
e Explore design opportunities that will enhance the rail trail project
e Evaluate lighting for pedestrian safety, visual enhancement, security, etc.
Consider efficiency, longevity, reduced maintenance demand and light
infringement
e Provide a cursory evaluation of amenities such as benches, receptacles, bike
racks, interpretive or wayfinding signage, bollards, fencing, etc. to support the
desired activities and the corridor’s urban character
e® Prepare an order of magnitude construction cost estimate
d. Development of Proposed Action
Following receipt of City and NHDOT review comments, Ironwood will refine and
advance a single preferred scheme.
e. Illustrative Presentation Graphics
In support of the Preferred Alternative, lronwocd will prepare the following for use in
promotional materials and public presentations
® Supportive precedent examples
f. Public Presentation
Prepare for and participate in a public hearing
e. Engineering Study
Compile materials and assist with content as needed
