average citizen does not, or should not, put on their own show. Come to the professional show and enjoy it.
It’s safe and a lot more fun. | think we’re giving our citizens the best bang for the buck with this. A very good
job, thank you.

Alderman Klee

I’m glad that we do this for the city. | think it is incredible, but it does not stop the citizens. | can tell you from
being in my neighborhood and getting phone calls as a state rep. and | can’t do anything about it. It does not
stop the citizens, but | do think it is a worthwhile event. We have to find another way to curtail the rest of it, but
you guys do a great job.

Alderwoman Kelly

| just want to express my gratitude. | have been living here since after college. We watch the fireworks from
Clocktower and now we bring our daughter in. It’s always an incredible event. | know there’s a lot of hard
work that goes into it, so thank you.

MOTION BY ALDERWOMAN KELLY TO ACCEPT, PLACE ON FILE AND, CONTINGENT UPON BOARD

ON THE QUESTION

The bonding for this has been approved, but any contract of a million dollars or more or a multi-year contract
needs to be approved by the entire Board of Aldermen. You will see this on the agenda at the next meeting.
These are CNG.

MOTION CARRIED

From: Dan Kooken, Purchasing Manager
Re: Replacement of Traffic Control Equipment on the Daniel Webster Highway and Spit Brook Road
(Value: $146,500)

MOTION BY ALDERWOMAN KELLY TO ACCEPT, PLACE ON FILE AND AWARD THE CONTRACT
TO OCEAN STATE SIGNAL CO., IN THE AMOUNT OF $146,500. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN
DEPARTMENT 160, ENGINEERING; HIGHWAY BLOCK GRANT

ON THE QUESTION

Mayor Donchess

Wayne Husband is the traffic engineer. The source of funds is again the state highway grant. This will replace
a number of the controllers down in the Daniel Webster Highway area with more advanced sophisticated
controllers and will provide some training for our traffic engineers regarding how to use them and time them
and also some consulting work regarding the timing of the lights. The controllers, of course, control the lights
and their timing.
