ON THE QUESTION
Nick Caggiano, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation
We have a 1985 compressor that we have had for a very long time. It has finally met its demised and needs to
be replaced. It’s kind of an important piece of equipment because other than our office, all of our facilities are
three-season facilities. Wwe need this compressor to get things started up in the spring, get all the irrigation
systems and the pools started. Then in the winter, we need to blow everything out before winter including
Holman Stadium and Stellos Stadium, the concession stands at Mine Falls, the three pools. It’s kind of a vital
piece of equipment that we use throughout the year.
Alderman O’Brien
| assume we're talking about a tag-along type of compressor. Besides blowing out, will you be able to do some
breaking up with jack hammers?
Mr. Caggiano
It will. That's the good thing this. Our compressors for the divisions are kind of getting older. We chose one
that was compatible with the other ones. During the summer, the street department will be able to utilize to run
jack hammers or cut saws, things like that, if they have an extra job to do or one of their units is in for
maintenance or repair?
Alderwoman Kelly
How many do you currently have in service?
Mr. Caggiano
This is the only one and it is not in service.

ON THE QUESTION
Mr. Caggiano
The gatehouse is at the entrance to Mine Falls at the Stellos Stadium entrance. In 2008, we did a very large
renovation to it. Inside it is almost museum quality, everything was redone. It is open on every Mine Falls Trail
Day on Saturdays. It will be open in the morning and you can come in. There’s usually someone from the
Mine Falls Advisory Committee that gives you a tour and explain how the gatehouse used to work. This winter
we experienced some rotting boards in the soffit. Once we got it inspected by the contractors, they said we
needed to get the roof replaced. It’s a rolled rubber roof. Rather than just patch it, we want to do it right and
protect the investment that we made in 2008 and get it watertight.
