Siphon Cover Modifications Work Scope and Bid Sheets

The City of Nashua ts seeking to upgrade sewer system siphon covers al various locations throughout the City.
Bids are being sought from qualified contractors for the installation of 2 new manufactured structure covers
with internal safety grate at one location and 10 other locations where an internal safety grates will be installed.
Details of the covers and safety grates to be installed are provided in the table below. Also attached is a location
map of the sites.
The contractor will be responsible for all materials, equipment and labor to complete the installations. All
materials used for the safety grates shall be cither stainless stecl, reinforced fiberglass or other materials suitable
for a corrosive sewer environment. All fasteners, bolts and hardware shall be stainless steel.

The contractor shall field verify the above dimensions (prior to ordering) and consult with vendor of how to
install the covers and safety grates in sections that can be easily lifted with a handle. Any long cover will have
to be separated into sections. For openings 10-feet or longer, a 3 sectioned hinged opening should be installed.
For openings 6-feet or longer, a 2 sectioned hinged opening should be installed. A pull handle shall be attached
to the grate similar to the one shown on the attached drawing to allow for easy lifting. The grates shall be
equipped with a locking mechanism to secure it to the inside frame. The design and method of attaching the
inner safety grates to the existing structures shall be designed or accepted and stamped by a Structural Engineer
in New England.
The 2 new access cover with safety grate at Main St - Downstr shall be custom manufactured, durable
aluminum floor doors that meet industry standards. The specifications shall be equal that of the USFFAB shown
in the attachment. The outer cover will be flush mounted with existing opening in a sidewalk and have no raised
edges to eliminate any tripping hazard. The cover shall have an outer locking mechanism and lockable inner
safety grate. The new aluminum plates al Fairmount Downstr shall be thick aluminum plates to fit and boll
