2022 Paving Program Change Order No. 1
To approve Change Order No. 1 with Sunshine Paving Corporation of Hudson, NH
for the amount not to exceed $125,000 for the increased cost of liquid asphalt
cement. Funding: Department 161 Streets; Fund: Bond; Activity: Paving.
The 2022 Paving Program contract includes an allowance to address potential
increases in the cost of liquid asphalt cement, a key component of hot bituminous
pavement production. The allowance removes speculation from the bidding
process, and pavement price escalations/reductions are calculated based on the base
price of liquid asphalt cement as furnished monthly by NHDOT Bureau of
Materials and Research. The contract base price at the time of bidding was
$625.00/ton (January 2022). The price of liquid asphalt cement has increased to
$800/ton (August 2022). The original allowance was $125,000.00. An increase of
$125,000.00 is requested to cover the anticipated additional cost of the remaining
asphalt to be placed.
