PAVING AND RECLAMATION

WORK INCLUDED:

Furnish all labor, equipment and materials required to install bituminous concrete
pavement courses, including sidewalks, driveways, temporary and permanent trench paving
and restoration of pavement markings as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein .

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:

GENERAL

The type of pavement systems to be utilized on this project shall be TYPE 1.
TEMPORARY TRENCH PAVEMENT, and TYPE 2 RECLAMATION WITH CURB-
TO-CURB BASE COURSE AND OVERLAY.

TYPE 1. TEMPORARY TRENCH PAVEMENT

All trenched areas shall be paved with temporary bituminous pavement, 2-inches thick, as
soon as practicable after installation of indrvidual pipeline segments, but no trench shall be
without temporary pavement longer than seven (7) calendar days.

TYPE 2. RECLAMATION WITH CURB-TO-CURB BASE COURSE AND OVERLAY

The work to be done hereunder shall include but not be limited to the reclaiming of existing
paved roadway surfaces and the placement of new bituminous to the relevant provisions
under Section 306 of the Standard Specification of NHDOT and as specified in the Contract
Documents.

On specified streets, areas of existing pavement shall be pulverized together with the
underlying base course. The pulverizing operation shall blend the existing pavement and
base course into a homogeneous mass, using the bitumen contained in the pavement as a
stabilizer. The Contractor shall be responsible for reclaiming all existing pavement to a
minimum depth of 13 inches (+/-) or as directed by the Engineer. The quantity of material
mixed with the existing pavement shall be adjusted as necessary to meet the material
