wall (prior to the start of any asbestos abatement Work) to maintain access through a
Work Area or Regulated Area, or to safely isolate the Work Area or Regulated Area.

ISOLATION OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND INSTALLATION OF
TEMPORARY POWER AND LIGHTING

The scope of the required electrical isolation and protection work includes isolation and
protection of electrical equipment which 1s 1n areas where asbestos removal work must
be performed, and could therefore possibly become a hazard through contact or short
circuiting in a wet environment. The Work shall also include providing labor to install,

the Engineer, any electrical or communication circuits that pass through a Work Area

Temporary light shall be provided by the Contractor 1n all Work Areas and Regulated

Facilities).

All light fixtures remaining in the Work Area shall be de-energized, thoroughly cleaned,
and then wrapped with protective, 6-mil plastic. They shall not be energized while in a
covered condition.

Light systems not demolished or disconnected shall be re-energized and tested when
removal work is finished and fixtures are unwrapped.

Temporary lighting and power systems shall comply with all OSHA, state, and local
regulations.

The Contractor 1s responsible for providing a safe condition, verifying existing electrical
conditions and determining isolation requirements.

The Contractor shall be required to furnish, without additional expense, all
transportation, labor, and materials necessary to maintain the electrical systems for a safe
operation, and to maintain service in areas abutting Work Areas in compliance with
codes.

When switching circuits at panels, the Contractor's electrician shall review the existing

directory. The Contractor shall not shutdown any circuits without the advanced
notification and acknowledgment of the Engineer.
