° Carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations exceed 5 PPM in the air
line between the filter bank and backup air supply,
. Compressor temperature exceeds normal operating range.
g. Compressor Motor: Provide a compressor driven by an electric motor.
Ensure that electrical supply available for the Work Area is adequate to
energize motor.
h. Compressor Location: Locate the compressor in a location that will not
impede access to the work area, and that will not cause a nuisance by
virtue of noise or fumes to adjacent areas.
1. Air Intake: Locate air intake remotely from any source of automobile
exhaust or any exhaust from motors or buildings.
J. After Cooler: Provide an after cooler at entry to filter system which is
capable of reducing temperatures to outside ambient air temperatures.
k. Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): Configure system to permit
the recharging of % hour 2260 PSI SCBA cylinders.
I. Air Quality For Supplied Air Respiratory Systems: Provide air used for
breathing in Type "C" supplied air respiratory systems that meets or
exceeds standards set for C.G.A. type 1 (gaseous Air) Grade F.
C. Wetting Agents: For wetting prior to disturbance of Asbestos-Containing Materials and
during removal procedures, use either Amended Water or a removal encapsulant. The
material must be odorless, non-flammable, non-toxic, non-irritating, and non-
carcinogenic. It shall be applied as a mist using alow pressure sprayer recommended by
the manufacturer.
1. Amended Water: Provide water to which a surfactant has been added. Use a
mixture of surfactant and water which results in wetting of the Asbestos-
Containing Material and retardation of fiber release during disturbance of the
material equal to or greater than that provided by the use of one ounce of a
surfactant consisting of 50% polyoxythylene ester and 50% polyoxythylene ether
mixed with five gallons of water or as specified by the manufacturer.
2. Removal Encapsulant: Provide a penetrating type encapsulant designed
specifically for removal of asbestos containing material. Use a material which
results in wetting of the asbestos-containing material and retardation of fiber
release during disturbance of the material equal to or greater than that provided by
water amended with one ounce of a surfactant consisting of 50% polyoxyethylene
ester and 50% polyoxyethylene ether mixed with five gallons of water or as
specified by the manufacturer.
