Engineering Design Services
Scope cf Work -Work Breakdown Struciure
1. 30% Design
1.1. Project kickoff meeting.
1.2. Collect and review existing facility design document.
1.3. Evaluate Cogen Generator Options and building layout and site plan.
1.4. Evaluate existing digester gas capacity and cleaning system conditions that
includes (service provided by Wright-Pierces):
1.4.1. Assess condition of existing Gas Cleansing Room equipment including
iron sponge, drip traps, foam separator, condensate traps.
1.4.2. Review data on digester gas quality before and after gas cleaning
system (testing to be carried out by others and provided by the City).
Compare test results to requirements for new generator.
1.4.3. Prepare brief technical memorandum summarizing any issues with the
condition of the existing equipment and identifying any gas quality
issues that need to be addressed either to meet the air permit
requirements or to meet the warrantee requirements of the proposed
generator(s)
1.5. Develop conceptual site plan layout and General Arrangement for major
equipment.
1.6. Identify potential options to enhance the project.
1.7. Develop major system equipment list.
1.8. Develop “rule of thumb” cost estimates for cogen options.
1.9. Attend one (1) design progress meetings — additional to the project kickoff
meeting.
1.10. Meet with City of Nashua and WWTF personnel to review the findings and
obtain approval for final system configuration.
2. 75% Design
2.1. Develop Basis of Design for mechanical, electrical and control systems. This
Basis of Design document defines the design criteria, outlines the system
design, equipment and component design features, as well as the performance
characteristics consistent with that criteria. This Basis of Design document
also creates the framework for the construction documents, major equipment
specifications and construction specifications.
2.2. Develop equipment demo and system tie-in design.
2.3. Revise layout and site plan diagrams
2.4. Develop electric power one-line diagrams.
2.5. Develop protection one-line diagrams.
2.6. Develop digester gas, natural gas and hot water system P&ID.
