In June of 2016 the Finance Committee approved the award of a contract to Port Lighting, Inc in
the amount of $149,979 for the design and installation of the Broad Street Parkway River Bridge
LED Lighting contract. Funding for this project was donated by Mr. Richard Stahl in December,
2015 and accepted by the Board of Alderman via R-15-197.
The original RFP and contract did not include the requirement for the project to including
bonding. Understanding a bond is required by state law to start the project, the contractor offered
to split the bond procurement costs with the City. An amendment to the contract has been put
forward in the amount of $2250 to include half of the financing costs for procuring a bond for the
project by the contractor. Herewith, please find construction change order No. 1 which increases
the contract price by $2,250 for the added requirement of the contractor providing performance
and payment bonds as required by law.
