Franklin Street Genesis & History
¢ The Nashua School District has had an alternative high school
program for many years, first housed at the South HS, then moved to
various rented spaces such as the Boys & Girls Club, Amherst Street
(Phoenix Program), Merrimack HS (Brentwood Program) and most
recently, back to another location off of Amherst Street. Rising costs
and a desire to find a permanent location contributed to looking for a
suitable building within the city to house the program.
e At the same time, the school district has long desired to centralize its
pre-school programs to make them more effective and efficient,
allowing classrooms teachers, OT/PT and other personnel to work in
one location rather that spread across multiple elementary schools.
