To the Board of Alderman - On February 8" the Nashua Arts Commission met to discuss the
following:
¢ National Endowment for the Arts, American Rescue Plan (ARP) Grant of $150,000.
The grant is given to the city of Nashua to be used to create sub-grants to the local non-profit
art sector in response to and for the recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no
local match required. Please note that a recommendation for the acceptance for this grant
found in R-22-003 will be made at the next Human Affairs Committee meeting of 2/17/22.
e FY¥ 2022 Grants — A presentation relative to the Work Groups recommendation was given.
The Nashua Arts Commission normally grants up to $40,000 in grants to local non-profit Arts
Programs.
¢ Nashua Arts and Culture Plan for 2022-2027 — The results were shared from the Public
Input Session that was held on 1/24/22 relative to the proposed (draft) Nashua Arts and
Culture Plan. There were a number of strong comments that the members of the Commission
took very seriously and did their very best to incorporate as many as possible into the final
draft of the Plan. The plan creates 4 goals of Enhance Economic Impact; Cultivate
Collaboration; Support Arts Education; and Increase Awareness. Within each of these Goals
they set Action Plans with key timeframes of NEAR (2022-2024); MID-TERM (2023-2025); and
LONG-TERM (2025-2027).
¢ Fund Raising — The Commission was going to investigate with both the Mayor's Office and
Legal to see if they have the ability do fund raising and if so, what are the limitations. For
instance, would they be limited to fund raise for a specific event or can they create fund
raising events to create additional grant funding.
¢ Recruitment of Membership — There are a few vacancies on the Commission.
