Good Afternoon
I'm emailing the entire board in regards to the extended outdoor dining. As the owner of
San Francisco Kitchen, I'm in full support of the barriers. | must say I'm very sad at how
this situation is being handled by other non restaurant owners. I'm getting harassed and
intimidated by other people. | worked in the medical field for over 20 years heiping
others. My main goal was to see my patients leave the office happy and supported by
the staff. It is disappointed to say that for the past 10 months, starting June of 2021,
instead of enjoying my neighbors and being friendly and helpful, | am getting harassed.
They come in with a friendly attitude and the moment I'm honest and tell them I'm in full
support their attitude changes and act very rude. | ask myself is this discrimination
and/or racism because I'm latin.
However, my other main concern and reason as to why I'm in favor of the barriers is
financially. The community iikes to dine and enjoy the nice weather outside, we are
cooped up for like 6 months and we all look forward to dining outside. The barriers
allows my restaurant to add additional tables for more capacity outside. Our live
entertainment draws more customers outside than when offered inside. Our sales
double in the Spring/ Summer months. I'm allow to keep all my employees on payroll
and not cut hours, like | do in the winter months. My employees don't have to struggle
financially with their household, their income increases and they are able to safe.
| know COVID restrictions were lifted but we still have a lot of residents who don't feel
comfortable dining inside. As soon the spring/summer comes along and we can offer
outside dining, the amount of residents who come out to dine doubles. Is amazing the
difference 5 tables vs 14 can do to the restaurant. My sales receipts shows the
difference.
Second reason, the barriers definitely make Downtown more welcoming, beautiful and
attracts more people to enjoy walking down Main St.
