Greetings
| have lived in Nashua's Historic District for almost 30 years.
During that period | have assiduously tried to shop and dine
downtown while largely eschewing the big box stores and chain
eateries in the suburbs. The completion of the Route
3/Everett Turnpike bypass around the city was a real boon for
habitues of our iconic downtown by restoring acceptable and
convenient levels of local traffic.
But in recent years Main Street traffic has increased in volume
and speed thus degrading the downtown ambiance. Last year's
effort to ameliorate the impact of Covid by expanding outdoor
dining at the expense of two of the four lanes of traffic was
immensely successful, in my view, and well worth continuing in
2022. Yes there were a few rough spots but they can be resolved
by judicious change in the plan.
On the basis of the foregoing, | urge you to vote to continue this
important and successful feature of Nashua's core infrastructure..
Cordially
