RE: Public Access Television Operations & Management Services
Bid Proposal of Robert J. Bartis, Esq. & George Russell
Dear City of Nashua:
It is an honor to submit this recommendation in support of my great friend, colleague and mentor
Robert J. “Bob” Bartis. First, and of most importance, Bob is an amazing person and a valuable asset to
the Nashua community. Over the past 20 years I’ve had the privilege of watching Bob rise in the legal
field to become a prominent lawyer who built a thriving law practice here in the city. In his role of
lawyer, Bob has (and continues} to help countless Nashua residents facing a vast range of assorted legal!
challenges with fairness, understanding, compassion and the utmost professionalism.
Equally impressive is Bob’s successful revival of our local community radio station WSMN 1590. In
March, 2017 Bob purchased WSMN, a local radio station that first aired in March, 1958. Through sheer
tenacity and determination Bob and George Russell transformed a one-time popular, but long defunct,
radio station into an all encompassing and inviting forum. Bob and George are the driving force, the
architect, behind the engaging programing and inclusive atmosphere fostered at WSMN 1590 radio.
Under Bob and George’s stewardship, local residents may tune in anytime and listen to a wide
assortment of relevant content — quality content that changes by the hour. For example, in the morning
one may tune inand listen to a lively political debate and, several hours later, one may tune in again and
listen to a sports program. Bob and George warmly invite groups from all walks and stations in life onto
the airwaves. In short, WSMN is the heartbeat of local democracy.
Bob are George are the most qualified candidate to transform public access television. For them, it is no
giant leap to pivot from resurrecting the local radio waves to rejuvenating the local television station.
With their proven investment of time and dedication to local programming (and, by virtue, our local
community), it is beyond all doubt that Bob and George will successfully transform community television
in the same fashion that he completely reinvigorated and revived WSMN.
