Opinion groups: Across 394 total
participants, opinion groups emerged
around improving access to green space
and riverfront, increasing quality and high-
paying jobs, increasing public art, year-
round events and festivals, providing more
affordable housing, and improving rail and
transit connections.

Here’s what most people agreed with:

“The current pandemic shows
us that we should be thinking of
open space and recreation less
as a nice amenity but more as

a fundamental part of balanced
city life.”

“T like the idea of Nashua as a
place where those who live here
can work here as well.”

Social Pinpoint,
Digital Mapping

Platform

A public participatory mapping
exercise was utilized to understand
where and how the community
would like to see growth and
improvement in Nashua.
Participants were asked to place
three kinds of markers that
represented the ideas of maintain
or protect, develop or redevelop,
and improve. After placing a
marker in a specific location
participants could add a comment
explaining what they think should
happen there. There was a great
response rate with 158 markers
for “improve,” 105 markers

for “develop or redevelop,” 41
markers for “maintain or protect,”
and 301 comments placed
throughout the map.

“The festivals and events that
occur all year round through
the downtown, arts and Park

and Recreation Office are an
excellent investment in our
community.”

Consensus Divisive
statements statements

Pol.is survey: How divisive was the conversation?

Statements (here as little circles) to the left were voted on the same way—either
everyone agreed or everyone disagreed. Statements to the right were divisive—

participants were split between agreement and disagreement. in general, there
was a lot of consensus on voting across the various statements.

A sample of comments on Social Pinpoint:

“The Salmon Brook corridor is
one of Nashua’s most historic
and important natural resources.

Its conservation protection
should be reinforced and expand
downstream to the Merrimack”

“Use Community Development
Block Grant funds to start a
beautification project for French
Hill. Create a citizen led group
who could drive the project to
create a long lasting positive
impact on this neighborhood”
