Special Board of Aldermen 01-25-2021 Page 3
President Wilshire
’'m here, |am alone and | can hear everyone. And Alderman Caron did tell me she would not be on the
meeting this evening, she’s unable to be here. So also with us is Corporation Counsel, Steve Bolton and |
don’t believe the Mayor is on the meeting. OK. As is customary, this being Budget-Related, | will turn the
meeting over to the Chair of the Budget Committee, Alderman Dowd.
Chairman Dowd
Ok tonight we have a public hearing on three different bonds. The first is R-21-105, Authorizing the Mayor
and the City Treasurer to issue bonds not to exceed the amount of $1,500,000.00 to purchase two new
engine pumper trucks for the Fire Department.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
R-21-105 AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY TREASURER TO ISSUE BONDS NOT TO EXCEED
THE AMOUNT OF ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,500,000) TO
PURCHASE TWO NEW ENGINE PUMPER TRUCKS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Chairman Dowd

Who would like to cover this for the Fire Department? Assistant Chief Buxton?

Assistant Chief Steve Buxton

OK good evening, | am Assistant Chief Buxton with the Nashua Fire Department. So basically, as you all know,
the City has a CERF schedule that is developed by members at City Hall with input from the individual divisions
with the Fire Department this year we are due to replace an engine. We are also due to replace an engine next
year. So we put our thinking caps on and basically are proposing replacing both engines at the same time to
achieve an overall savings of a little better than $150,000.00 by pulling the two engines together. Obviously it
requires more money outlaid at the beginning but at the end of the day the City will realize that savings.

This would allow us to maintain the replacement schedule that has currently been crafted in the CERF State
Law. | can answer any questions that anybody may have about it but that’s pretty much the nuts and bolts of it.

Chairman Dowd

Before we answer the questions, Treasurer Fredette, both of these items are in the current bonding schedule,
is that true?

David Fredette, Treasurer

Yes as the Chief said the one would be normally bought in Fiscal Year ’22 but because we are buying them
together we can save about $150,000.00 or so. So they are in the schedule, yes.

Chairman Dowd

Does anyone have any questions concerning the presentation on what the bond is for? Seeing none | will now
ask for testimony in favor. Alderman Lu?

Alderwoman Lu

I'm sorry this is the Public Meeting, the Public Hearing correct.
