information about the canal and its surroundings including the storehouse and waste house on the
railroad spur. Some history of the company and the operation of the larger industrial complex will
be included for context.
There is considerable information about the mill district and its buildings. The historic district was
listed on the National Register in 1987. The Broad Street Parkway EIS from 1996 includes
additional information. In 2012 Lisa Mausolf completed an area form updating the district
discussion and focusing on a specific part of the Nashua company district. Richard Casella
recently completed NH Historic Property Documentation for the storehouse, waste house, and the
canal. These include many historic maps and images.
Interestingly, the Millyard was the focus of an exemplary effort by students at the Fairgrounds
Middle School in 1998 when they formed a Student Historic Preservation Team to save the historic
Gate House. Their effort received an award from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance in
2009. This could be included in the text of this sign. Information regarding the Mine Falls ‘Nashua
