Pipeline Inspection

MOTION BY ALDERMAN HARRIOTT-GATHRIGHT TO AWARD THE 2019 CIPP PROGRAM

CONTRACT — CHANGE ORDER 2 - IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500,000 TO KENYON PIPELINE

INSPECTION BY ROLL CALL

ON THE QUESTION

President Wilshire

Is there any discussion?

Alderwoman Lu

Thank you very much, Madam Chairman. | just have a couple of questions about this. | went back to the

Finance Committee notes and couldn’t find notes on this award. Is there any (inaudible) to address to
answer the question. Anyone from the DPW or Street Department?

President Wilshire

No. Alderman O’Brien is raising his hand. He might know something if you have a question or you can ask
a question to the Mayor.

Alderman O’Brien

Thank you Madam President and | can defer to the Mayor as well, but being the liaison to the Public Works
Department, granted this is $1.5 million but what we are talking about is the inspection of sewer lines that
many in our city are aging. What this company will do, they will come in and will recoat those sewer lines,
thus increasing the longevity. Now if we do not do this and the sewer line fails, besides creating the usual
mess that would occur, it would be much, much more money and this is the economic value to the
taxpayers besides digging up our streets and replacing these lines. We will get several more years out of
our sewer system by coating these particular pipes.

President Wilshire

Alderwoman Lu, did you have another specific question on this?
