Thank you. Also in attendance is Mayor Donchess, Corporation Counsel Steve Bolton and who else do |
see out there? | see Deputy Chief Testaverde. Those are the only people | can see. Mayor, do you wish to
address the Board this evening?

REMARKS BY THE MAYOR

Mayor Donchess

Yes, thank you Madam President. | wanted to speak with you about a few things. The first and most immediate
is a communication on your desk from Director Bobbie Bagley regarding a grant that we are (inaudible) program
we are going to undertake with the CDC, Center for Disease Control Foundation. The Foundation is a non-
profit corporation that is associated with the Center for Disease Control. And fortunately for us, as a result of
the very good work that the Health Department has been doing, the CDC Foundation has agreed to provide, at
no cost to us, four employees to help with the COVID-19 Crisis. Two of these would work directly with the
Health Department, one would work for Emergency Management and one would serve as a Public Information
(inaudible). We really would like to get started with this; there is no cost to the City whatsoever, but we need to
get this approved by the Board of Aldermen so that we can begin the hiring process. The CDC and the City will
jointly interview people locally here and hire the four people as soon as we can. Again, no cost to the City. So
Madam President, | do ask that the Board suspend the rules, accept the communication and approve the
agreement or the arrangement with the CDC Foundation.

Of course the Health Department is still very active with respect to the COVID-19 Crisis. They are working still 7
days a week. There are now 178 cases that have been documented in Nashua. 100 have recovered. These
numbers are as of this morning. So unfortunately, tragically 8 people have died and that leaves 60 active
cases. Now in addition to working with the people who have tested positive, the Health Department traces all
